Maisie grew up in the late 1800s on Tasmania’s west coast. As a young child Janet was enthralled by stories of Maisie’s wild childhood. In her narrow inner Sydney back yard, a place of moisture, ferns and mosses she kept her love for Tasmania and the bush alive, transmitting these to Janet.

Janet first experienced Tasmania in 1986 on a bushwalking trip to the Overland track and Walls of Jerusalem. In 1993 on a walking trip in the Tarkine wilderness she also fell in love with Tasmanian Glenn Brewer. There’s a place in Janet’s heart that is occupied by her love for the Tasmanian environment.

Janet has worked for the Australian Conservation Foundation and more recently the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service as a passionate advocate for nature conservation, environmental education and community engagement with natural and cultural heritage.
