The Cameron Blackburn Fund has been established to celebrate Cameron’s life by Susan Ellis Blackburn, Cameron’s partner, and Gerald Blackburn, his brother.

As a keen surfer, Cameron ranged along Tasmania’s coastlines, often to remote locations up and down the east coast, the far north east, and the wild west coast. With a wonderful infectious zest for life, as well as surfing and camping, Cameron loved playing guitar, listening to music, reading poetry, studying engineering at the University of Tasmania, and working as an engineer in Cape Town, South Africa in between his university studies. Cameron lived his life to the full, indeed, almost as if it was going to be cut short. In 1975 within months of Cameron and Susan marrying in their early 20s, Cameron was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukaemia. He lived for another 13 months but never lost his passion for all the people and places he loved and cared about.

Where possible, the Fund will contribute to caring for Tasmania’s coastal environments as part of the Tasmanian Land Conservancy Foundation, helping protect the unique land and seascapes that Cameron loved so much.
