As the remaining member of my family, I wish to remember their connection to nature via the Goldspink Family Fund.
There were four of us originally: Mum, Dad and my younger brother Christopher. Dad succumbed to cancer in 2006 and my brother to motor neurone disease in 2022. Mum lived to the ripe old age of 98. Neither Chris nor I had children.
We migrated to Australia in 1961 as ’10-Pound Poms’. Each of us ended up living in different parts of Australia or New Zealand, and/or travelling widely across the country. All of us held – and those of us still here continue to hold – a deep respect for Mother Nature and her importance to this amazing planet.
While my brother and mum were still alive, the three of us discussed our legacy and it was jointly decided that we would contribute to the protection of land, flora and fauna in my place of residence, Tasmania. I believe that the Tasmanian Land Conservancy is the organisation best placed to facilitate this.
With this in mind I have set up this fund. I will continue to contribute as much as I can in my lifetime but have legally ensured a bequest upon my death.
