Red Parka Fund

Red Parka established their fund in early 2025 to support TLC's conservation work across Tasmania

Red Parka is the creative business of Tasmanian artists Jennifer Cossins and Tracy Colhoun. Beginning in 2008 as a local market stall, Red Parka has grown from Jen’s dream of making a living from her artwork into a thriving Hobart storefront. Soon after setting out on her venture, Jen met Tracy, her partner in business and in life, and together they have grown Red Parka into the Criterion St institution it is today.

Jen and Tracy share a love of animals, nature, bushwalking and conservation, and through Red Parka, they are constantly striving to make the world a better place.

In the early days, making enough money to pay the rent and put food on the table was a challenge, but Red Parka has since grown into a sustainable small business employing over 10 staff members between the shop in Hobart and warehouse in Derwent Park. In July 2022, Jen and Tracy decided it was time to start giving back more and have committed to donating at least 50% of profits to charity! The remaining is reinvested into keeping the business strong, keeping staff well paid, and enabling Jen and Tracy to write books and create art that makes a difference!

As of January 2025, Red Parka has donated over $200,000 to charity! While they focus on environmental, animal and wildlife rescue organisations, they also contribute to humanitarian, equality and literacy causes.

Jen and Tracy believe that Tasmania is one of the most special places on earth and being part of the foundation fund with the Tasmanian Land Conservancy enables their business to contribute to its protection. The idea that contributing to the fund will leave a lasting legacy for Tasmania’s unique and threatened flora and fauna is a rewarding feeling and makes their work more meaningful.
