Frances, Friends & Family Fund

The Frances, Friends and Family Fund was set up in 2022 to commemorate the life of Frances Latham and her love of the Tasmanian bush.

Frances grew up in NSW in a family of seven children. A common part of weekends and family holidays was bushwalking together in national parks.

Frances went to Tasmania for a holiday in 1988 and she ended up staying for the rest of her life. With her Tasmanian partner Greg French, she enjoyed the Tasmanian wilderness, and they lived together on a beautiful bush block not far from Hobart. Their children Tom Latham and Jane Beswick are now the next generation to continue the family appreciation of nature.

Frances was ill towards the end of her life, and one thing she greatly missed was spending time in the bush. So her friends decided to make it happen, and they carried her in on several trips, including one more overnight stay at Lake Ina.

A highlight of living on a bush block was the return of the swallows each Spring. Frances was delighted when they returned in 2022 just as she got back home after a stay in hospital.

Frances supported the Tasmanian Land Conservancy during her life, and she wanted that to continue after her life was over. With the support of her friends and family we are making that happen.
